What is a career choice?
A choice is an act or process of choosing something from two or more options. A career is an occupation pursued by an individual for a long period of a person’s life and is usually associated with opportunities for growth at social and economic levels. A career choice is an act of choosing a career option from a number of various options usually based on person’s interests, ability, as well as personality among other considerations.

There are thousands of career choices open to young people within colleges and universities in Kenya. These career choices or options can be found at various levels such as; certificate courses, diploma courses and degree courses among other options. Depending on one’s interests, personality and ability, the career choices open to young people within the Kenyan universities are as diverse as their qualifications.

According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (Kuccps), career choices within the Kenyan universities have been classified or grouped into 23 major career clusters based on subjects requirements and related tasks. These are the major career choices for high school students in Kenya within our universities. Aspiring college and university students can therefore choose a career choice from these major clusters.
